Philanthropy
Our ultimate goal in leadership is to use what we’ve learned to impact the world around us. Each semester, our Journeymen help raise funds for local and national philanthropies. Recent partnerships include the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Typhoon Ondoy relief in the Philippines.
Beyond raising money for charitable organizations, DOZ also encourages direct community service and holds multiple service days every year. We recently volunteered at KEEN LA, a program dedicated to encouraging children with disabilities to exercise, and Casa de Rosas, a local women’s shelter.
Our actives also participate in Dance Marathon and Relay for Life. In 2010, the DOZ team raised more than $1,000 for cancer research! Our members also contribute to community-oriented groups, like Teach for America, USC Helenes, Habitat for Humanity, the Joint Educational Project, Women and Youth Supporting Each Other, the Emergency Medical Services of USC, Alternative Spring Breaks, and many, many more. Demonstrating enthusiastic service and active leadership in such groups, DOZers prioritize giving back to their community.
Our philanthropy program is constantly growing, along with our fraternity. If you would like to be a part of it, check out our Rush page!
